Ever wonder why plaid, (flannel, tartan, houndstooth, checker, etc.), is a pattern trend that never seems to disappear? Ever since the 1970’s we have seen plaid as the face of paper towels, lumberjacks, hipsters, or even on high-end fashionistas. Back in day plaid was used as a way to distinguish Scottish family clans from one another (think of the pattern on a Scottish kilt). From then on it has stood the test of time and has never died. Flash-forward to the 1970’s…it’s like plaid never left. The 70’s decade started the craze for the plaid shirt and every decade following plaid has been seen on 80’s punk rockers, on 90’s lumberjacks, on hipsters in the early 2000’s,  and finally today – we see it everywhere. It doesn’t matter if you’re a high-end designer, or thrift shop searching…You’re sure to see plaid EVERYWHERE!
