National Police Week Events in Appleton

Microsoft Word – 2014 Police Week release.doc

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls annually as National Police Week. National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, serving to protect others.

The Appleton Police Department will recognize and celebrate National Police Week throughout the week of May 11, 2014. We are inviting the public and local media to celebrate with us at the following two events:

  • Monday, May 12, 8:30 A.M. – A special Honor Guard flag raising ceremony at the Appleton Police Department will recognize the significance of National Police Week.
  • Wednesday, May 14, 10:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. – A local police vehicle display and brat fry will be held in Houdini Plaza in downtown Appleton (corner of College Avenue and Appleton Street). Fitted youth bicycle helmets will also be given away to children present at this event. Helmets are provided until the donated supply is out.
