2015 Walter Kalata Landmark Award Presented to Ruby and Joe Wells and Gabriel’s Furniture

The Walter Kalata Landmark Award is presented to a business that has become a landmark in our downtown. A business that has withstood the test of time and operates their business with passion and with a strong commitment to downtown. A place where people can remember the past and converse about the future.

This family owned and operated business has been Downtown since 1928, in the same location for over 85 years! The original building was built in 1888 by a men’s organization that called themselves the Odd Fellows – it has a story all of its own.

The current owners who purchased the business in 1974 continue to this day to be committed to the highest quality of customer services. With a guarantee that furnishings and accessories they sell are made in the USA.

The family and business are a rich tradition of personalized service and a glimpse of the City of Appleton’s colorful history.

Stop in and browse the 30,000 square feet of showroom and pull up a chair…  you’re bound to hear a great story about their products, their history or about Joe’s golf game!

There is no doubt that Gabriel Furniture is a landmark in downtown Appleton and one we will cherish for many years to come!

Here to accept the Walter Kalata Landmark award are owners and fellow Downtowners: Ruby and Joe Wells.
