Visit the Just Act Natural Green Market this Saturday

Join us this Saturday from 8am – 12:30pm for this month’s Just Act Natural Green Market — an extension of the Downtown Appleton Farm Market.

The Green Market block extends from Durkee Street east to Drew Street.  The south side of the street will be filled with green vendors and the north side is chuck-full of art vendors.

This is the public’s chance to chat with local experts on all things green.  Ever think about installing solar panels?  Check out Appleton Solar’s booth and get straight answers about the power of solar.

Want to switch to kid- and pet-friendly lawn care?  Talk to local companies Valley Organics and Backyard Organics.

Always wanted to start backyard composting?  Now you can talk with the compost experts at Compost Joe’s.

Where’s the best bike trails in the area and where can I get the best bike?  Fox Cities Greenways will tell you and give you a map.  Make your way over to the Appleton Bike Shop booth and they’ll show the best bike for your needs.

How do I even start coverting to a green lifestyle?  Dianne and myself here at Just Act Natural can help you with that, too.  Come talk to us either at the booth or in the store.  We are happy to help!

The opportunities abound at the Green Market.  You’re going to the Farm Market anyway, take a few more steps eastward on College Avenue and talk to locally-owned businesses and organizations about going green!  See you Saturday!

Downtown Appleton Farm Market – Frequently Asked Questions

What are the dates of market?

Market begins June 18, 2011 and runs every Saturday through the end of October outside, then moves inside City Center Plaza through the end of March.  No market during Octoberfest.

What are the hours?

8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Can I bring my pet?

No pets allowed.  Per City Ordinance, pets are not allowed at special
events, violators will be fined $186.00

How do I become a vendor?

It is an application process that is dependent on what you’re selling.  All items must be hand-crafted, hand-made or hand-grown to be eligible to participate.  We have three different application types:  Crafter, Producer, and Ready to Eat Food.  Due to the high volume of interest, we do have a waiting list, with several categories capped off.  Full
seasonal booths are currently not available.  Because we want everyone to do well at market, we only allow so-many vendors to be selling the same types of items, so as not to over-saturate any one category.

What is the cost?

Full seasonal booths are not currently available.  However, we do periodically have “Daily” stalls open, and we fill these by working off of our “waiting list” of approved vendors.  For a single 10’ x 12’ stall the fee is $35/day.  A double 20’ x 12’ sized stall fee is $50/day.

What is the size of a booth?

Depending on availability, there are three different sized booths, but majority of the booths are a 10’wide, 12’ deep.

Is there a place to park?

There is no reserved parking for vendors or shoppers.  We recommend parking in any of the many ramps downtown, as the fee is $2 to park all day, so you can shop or sell and not have to worry about plugging a meter.

How do I obtain a WI Sellers permit?

There is an online application available through the state for a permit:  http://www.revenue.wi.gov  We highly recommend you apply & receive a number, as we are required by law to submit all of your information from your application as you participate.

Why isn’t the application online?

Due to our extensive waiting list, we are currently not
accepting applications, but would love to add you to our waiting list.  Be sure to either contact our Farm Market Director via phone at 920-954-9112 or e-mail
Djuanna@appletondowntown.org.

This is the completed artwork from artist Daniel Green of the new local food truck, Kangaroostaurant at the farm market. Kangaroostaurant owners Kelly and Jay shared this quote with us.

We are so excited about this painting and the sense of community it portrays. Thank you Downtown Appleton for managing such an amazing Farm Market right here in APPLETON!!!

Look for the Kanagaroostaurant local food truck at the end of S. Oneida St. every Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm  during the Downtown Appleton Farm Market.
