“I am a psychic artist from Stevens Point, Wisconsin. I am really passionate about combining personal development with artistic pursuits. I believe, creativity is the driving force for change that guides everything to grow and evolve.

My primary focus is working in the encaustic medium.  I combine beeswax, damar resin, and various pigments to paint predominantly on wood panels. Encaustic paint must be warm to be worked, so I use a variety of irons, torches, and other heated tools.  The advantage of working with wax is the visual depth that can be created by painting layer upon layer of translucent medium. When pressure is applied, through scraping and polishing, the medium is left more transparent. It takes effort and finesse to achieve the surface texture that suits me. My method certainly is a dance of sorts between development and destruction-both creative and personal.”

On Friday, July 17th Chalk on the Town “Summer in the City” will again feature the work of local chalk artists on College Avenue.  Come and watch Lisa Sell chalk in front of Angels Forever – Windows of Light create another amazing work of chalk.

A favorite of Chalk on the Town, Lisa Sell, Mixed Media Fantasy Artist has won Chalk on the Town every year she has participated!

Kids  can chalk from 2- 4 pm in City Center and then from 6 – 9 pm enjoy  “Garden Spirit”

Energized by the beauty of Wisconsin’s long-awaited summer, this series of paintings celebrates the surprising and dramatic awakening of nature in our environment and in ourselves.

Artist Sarah Birschbach has been a mixed media painter, silk painter, and jewelry designer for more than a decade. She’s also enjoyed many years as an arts advocate for our extraordinary community of local artists. Her show at Windows of Light will feature mixed media works, inspired by these wild summer months when mother nature pulls out all the stops and fills the world with color and light.

Jewelry trends:  Spring Jewelry Trends “More is More”

The standout jewelry trends spotted on the 2015 Spring Collection runways in New York, Paris, London and Milan indicate that “more is more” with varying sizes, unique shapes and colorful jewels.

Trending necklaces seem to be either very long or very short. The pendant necklace is coming out swinging suspended on very long chain and emphasizing large single gemstones. Chokers range in style from thick layers of gemstones for a collar type look or single strands of beads for a daintier look.

Derived from the Roman word “Aqua,” meaning water, and “mare,” meaning sea, this pale blue gem does indeed resemble the color of seawater. The ancient Romans believed that the Aquamarine was sacred to Neptune, the god of the sea, having fallen from the jewel boxes of sirens and washed onto shore. Early sailors wore aquamarine talismans, engraved with the likeness of Neptune, as protection against dangers at sea. In addition to calming the waves, aquamarine also has a soothing influence on relationships, especially on married couples. A gift of Aquamarine symbolizes both safety and security, especially within long standing relationships. Some people even say that the Aquamarine reawakens love in a tired marriage. Other properties attributed to this stone include: facilitation of communication since it emits a gentle and compassionate energy; helps judgmental people be more tolerant.; helps one to take responsibility for ones actions; encourages the ability to ‘always be prepared’ and ; enhances ones ability for rapid intellectual response. While it varies in color Aquamarine is always a pastel blue but the darker the color, the more valued it is. The Aquamarine is a member of the beryl family. Beryl is a mineral that crystallizes within large grained igneous rocks on the earth’s crust.

The alternate birthstone for March is Bloodstone. The name Bloodstone derives from the legendary belief that the red coloration resulted from the blood of Christ spilling onto green jasper during the crucifixion. For this reason the stone has been called “martyr’s stone” and is also known as the “stone of courage”. Other properties attributed to this stone include: enhances creativity; intense healing stone; improves ones talents and abilities.; provides practical and dispassionate guidance; dispels states of bewilderment and obscure thought; revitalization of love, relationships and friendships and; helps one to recognize the beneficial aspects of turmoil prior to perfection.

The Year of the Horse at Angels Forever / Windows of Light

What if you could actually experience what is in a horse’s heart?

Angels Forever / Windows of Light is your place to find something special for the Year of the Horse. This year, Chinese New Year falls on January 31, 2014, at which point the Year of the Horse will burst out of the gates and charge forward until February 18, 2015.

The Year of the Horse is about unrestrained freedom, fast action, and enjoying life’s adventures. Those born under this sign (2014, 2002, 1990, 1978, 1966, 1954, 1942, 1930, 1918, and 1906) are said to be warm-hearted, carefree, and optimistic individuals who are intuitive and follow their hunches, which often help them make good life decisions.

The signs of the Chinese Zodiac are said to have been created by Buddha when he invited all the animals of the world to a New Year celebration. Only 12 animals showed up to the party, so he honored them with their own years.

Chinese New Year is a 15 day event that ends on the second New Moon after the Winter Solstice. Because the New Year is based on the Chinese lunar calendar (which tracks the phases of the moon as well as the seasonal solstices and equinoxes) instead of the Gregorian calendar (which tracks Earth’s revolution around the sun) the date changes from year to year. Also known as the Spring Festival, Chinese New Year is celebrated by cleaning one’s house to remove “huiqi” (bad luck or negative energy from the current year), lighting off firecrackers, hanging lucky scrolls, hosting family feasts, and paying homage to deities and ancestors – all in an effort to bring good luck and fortune to the household.
